Job Description:
AriensCo is recruiting for a motivated and passionate Tooling Programmer to be located at our new manufacturing facility in Fayetteville, TN.
The Tooling Programmer will be responsible for the specification, purchase, testing, installation, and documentation of welding and automation technology, sensors, electrical switches and die protection equipment used in the “right sized” machinery, dies, weld fixtures and gages used at the Ariens Company. Work as a team player in a high paced Lean manufacturing environment.
THE DAY TO DAY...
Automation/ “Right Sized” Machinery Responsibilities:
  • Work together with machine design staff, tool and die makers, production personnel, and management to help determine effective automation applications on “in-house” built right sized equipment. This could include drilling units, welders, benders, brakes, among many other types of machinery.
  • Help design and build as well as program PLCs, drives, vision systems and other automation equipment to help out in all areas of the factory. These will include safety devices, transfer devices, stacking equipment, pick and place units, among other requests.
  • Help determine costs and feasibility of machine and automation work requests received.
  • Work with vendors and their representatives to determine the correct hardware and software for each individual application. This will include working with established vendors, as well as developing new sources for this type of technology.
AGV Related Responsibilities
Fixture Related Responsibilities:
  • Work together will tool design staff, tool and die makers, production supervisors, and robot weld technicians to determine the best method in each fixture to prevent the production of defective parts. These fixtures may be robotic weld, hand weld, machining fixtures, inspection fixtures, among other types.
  • Use various automation technology to detect part presence, proper part placement, detecting the opening and closing of clamping devices, and quick check gauging fixtures, among other issues.
  • Work with tool design staff to ensure designs incorporate proper weld gun angles and the take advantage of the latest weld techniques in all fixture designs.
  • Relay all pertinent fixture related information to the tool and die design staff, and work together on correct placement of various hardware into the CAD design, so that the information is passed accurately to the floor for fixture build.
  • Work closely with the assigned toolmaker and the robot technicians to ensure all automation technology is installed and functioning properly.
The Requirements...
  • Two year certificate from college or technical school required.
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate must be willing to do continuing education programs in order to keep abreast with changing technologies.
