The Position:

The chief purpose of Training and Development at Liberty Steel & Wire is to educate our workforce, grow leaders for the future, and consistently deliver a remarkable development experience to our people.

As a Training Manager, you will lead projects aligned with one or more of our learning strategies while driving connections across the broader team.

Our learning strategies consist of, but are not limited to, use of learner assessments to measure upskilling needs and progress, overall Liberty success measures, ensure completion and adherence to various risk and compliance processes and internal administrative policies.

This position is onsite at our office in Peoria, IL and will require up to 20% domestic travel.

Responsibilities:

  • The Training Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Training and Learning System to lead the planning, developing, and implementing training programs company-wide for management and staff development, advancement of work skills, customer support, safety, and emerging initiatives. The Training Manager will provide input and utilize curriculum and training delivery to be performed on site, remotely, and with internal and contracted resources.

  • Under the direction of the Director of Training and Learning System, implements annual training plans for management, staff, customer support, and direct labor that encompass group and individual training and mentoring, and conducted on-site in person, with dedicated learning centers, or remotely accessed.

  • Responsible for the analysis of organization-wide training needs assessments that identify current knowledge and skills gaps impacting performance as well as those needs to support emerging needs in manufacturing technology, best practices, and workforce development.

  • Creates and maintains new in-person and interactive training delivery program methodologies and enhancements to existing programs that include lesson plans, training aids, and multimedia presentation.

  • Consults with management, staff, and union representation on training opportunities.

  • Assists in new hire onboarding content creation for all new hires including management and hourly employees; ensures completion of all new hire learning tasks during onboarding.

  • Develops new or modifies existing course content as required for statutory (rules, safety, and behaviors), proactive development (career path, skill enhancement, and emerging technologies and systems), and leadership (integrity, communications, team building, motivation, getting results, and style).

  • Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, instructional design, or training and development, with three years of progressive experience developing and conducting technical, professional, and managerial training according to specific curriculum.
    • Alternatively the position will accept a Associate's degree in education or instructional design along with 5 years of progressive experience of the same scope.
    • A certificate in project management or instructional systems technology may substitute for some experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metals
  • Experience in a training capacity within a manufacturing environment, preferably metals
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with LMS 365 or other LMS required
  • Experience with Articulate 360 and Camtasia or other video editing software is required
  • Knowledge of the full training cycle.
  • Requires advanced human relations skills to deliver formal and influential training, facilitate group discussions and presentations, and 'market' services to all levels of staff.

PAY RANGE: $67,000-90,000

TARGET BONUS: 12%
