POSITION: Administrative Assistant, Transportation Department

LOCATION: Red Cliff Tribal Administration

WAGE: $18.00/hour plus benefits

SUPERVISOR: Transportation Director

THIS IS A FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT POSITION.

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time position dependent on available transportation funding and will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of transportation services on the Red Cliff Reservation. This positions regularly scheduled workday will follow the established policies for the Red Cliff Band’s “Work Week”. Schedules requiring working early hours, nights, weekends, and holidays or as weather dictates will need to follow procedures identified in the employee handbook.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Transportation Director in the administration of the transportation program.
  • Assists in public relations and marketing strategies to respond to and anticipate public needs and demands and inform the public of the services available.
  • Assists in the development of transportation plans.
  • Assists with budget development.
  • Assists with all TTP functions including road construction and road maintenance and transit operations.
  • Maintains and manages the record keeping, reporting, policy and procedural documentation related to roads and transit.
  • Attends staff meetings, planning meetings, tribal meetings, tribal council meetings and transportation committee meetings as required.
  • Assists in the development of the Tribal Transportation Improvement Plan (TTIP).
  • Assists and manages public outreach informing tribal members of the existing transportation system and identifying community transportation issues.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None.

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of basic office procedures and machines: fax, copier, scanner, etc. Perform data entry and response and maintain computer programs and data storage files. Knowledge of computer skills using Office, Excel software and internet research activities required. Prefer applicant have knowledge of Native Tribes and the uniqueness of the Red Cliff Community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED required.
  • Education or work experience in administrative services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and engage staff, Tribal community, and the Tribe’s external partners in a positive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interaction with members of the public utilizing the transportation services of the Red Cliff Tribe.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, as well as the ability to follow specific instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Primarily office position that may require, bending, lifting and reaching. May need to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None.
