The Trauma Registrar is an essential component of the Trauma Team and maintains trauma data for our regions only Level 1 Trauma Center. The Trauma Registrar works remotely with a small team who is responsible for the collection, secure storage, and reporting of information about trauma patients, including facts related to the injury event, severity, care provided, and outcomes. Obtaining, coding, and sorting this information for analysis and reporting individual and aggregate results are the main tasks of the Trauma Registrar.

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for maintaining the Hospital Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Registries at our Level 1 Trauma Center. This includes all performance improvement issues related to the Registries including upgrades and data analysis. Acts as a liaison with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Case Managers, University of Vermont researchers, and others to provide reports of Registry data as approved by the Trauma Medical Director. The Trauma Registrar is responsible for comprehensive data collection, coding, and data entry for all trauma and emergency general surgery related admissions. The Trauma Registrar collects trauma and emergency general surgery related data for injury research, epidemiology, and performance improvement. The Trauma Registrar also provides secretarial support to Trauma staff as appropriate.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
Trauma Registry Certification Preferred and required within 3 years of employment
AIS scoring experience preferred and certification required within 3 years of employment
ICD10 Coding experience preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Advanced education or training in medical records or medical secretary with experience in trauma related field. Must be self-motivated and capable of working cooperatively in a small group. Education in Anatomy and previous coding experience or certification desirable
