Job: Traveling Medical Assistant for Pain Management Specialty Practice.

Traveling Medical Assistant (or with Equivalent Experience/Education – Trainable opportunity for the right candidate) for clinics for Pain Management Practice (Main Office is in Lakewood, CA and Traveling sites is in Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, and Santa Ana on a fixed schedule).
We have openings for ideal candidates who want a permanent and stable position for immediate hire. Please note preference will be towards candidates who are Bilingual in Spanish/English, will travel to all sites on a set schedule, has reliable transportation, and is responsible.

Job Summary:
This initial role along with the team assures smooth patient flow, assists with clinic examination follow-ups and procedures, collects patient information and co-pays, prepares medications as needed to support the providers, and schedules between your team members. There is a Check-in/Back-office section, Rooming and Preparing patients for Examinations, and a Check-out section in an Outpatient office setting. Procedure support when scheduled as additional support to cover. Other duties as assigned or as an existing and development skillset expand. There will be additional interaction with the home office support staff to achieve optimal results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This position exists to perform a variety of patient care services – clinical and clerical, as directed by the Physician(s), Physician Assistant(s), and Nurse Practitioner(s) in This Pain Management Specialty, as well as through your Travel Team Lead (Senior MA), Travel Team Supervisor (Sr. Physician Assistant), and/or Practice Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical processes individually, and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal and customer service-oriented communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
  • Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all interactions. The ability to work effectively with culturally diverse, as well as low-income populations in a fast-paced environment is critical.
  • Prepare patients for exam and treatment with Covid-19 evolved cleaning and sanitation guidelines that are now standard, taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaints; documents pain scores as appropriate.
  • Reports the condition of the patient which may be indicative of a change in the patient’s condition to the clinician.
  • Maintains a clean, functional environment including basic sanitation of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.
  • Disinfect equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures in between patient use.
  • Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures and acts as chaperone as needed.
  • Stocks patient care areas. Scanning patient documents and inputting data assists with the EMR transfer of the practice.
  • In time if not already candidate will learn to rotate to assist with medication prescriptions, coordinate with pharmacies, authorizations when applicable, and schedule the next clinic/procedure (when applicable) appointments.

Job Details:
  • Goes at starting rate up - It all depends on your education and experience.
  • There is no overtime. In this job, you will be working hours average to the status of a Full-Time employee with benefits, and you will get paid for your time worked along with a travel reimbursement fee per satellite office.
  • We abide by the CA Labor Laws.

Qualifications:
  • Previous Pain Management/Orthopedics/CA Workers’ Comp. a plus.
  • Must be able to Travel to Satellite Offices on Assigned Days. It cannot be reinforced enough.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, on time if not early, and have a strong work ethic - Not Negotiable. Covid-19 guidelines are in place. However, while this practice provides a Hybrid Telehealth and in-person treatment clinic, this position is not a telework position whatsoever. The team has specific and interchangeable roles within the clinic so as one progresses, they will be expected to learn all stations. But it is crucial that every member is on-site together to be the most effective.
  • Cash handling skills are basic but very specific to the directions trained and followed, in order to record collections correctly and most accurately, which for any business would be considered vital and one of the most important responsibilities! It must be handled responsibly. PII of patients' financial information, just like HIPAA is to patients' health information, is expected to be handled synonymously for their protection as well as this company. You are processing credit card transactions either by square or call-in method and entering the data in "real-time", esp. to ensure the patient's payment has been captured and has a receipt for them and for our records.
  • This job requires a one-year minimum contracted commitment.

Hiring Recap:
  • Must have reliable transportation. If you can't get on-site to any of our clinic sites, you're unfortunately unable to do the job.
  • Being Bilingual in English/Spanish is a requirement. Medically Bilingual is a plus.
  • Experience with Medical Office Clinic/Procedure settings specializing in either a Pain Management/Orthopedics Clinic setting preferred. Both Clerical and Clinical. (2 – 5+ years). Will train candidates with little to no experience with the right attitude dependent upon the skillset and experience that is brought over to contribute to this practice.
  • Previous Travel to multiple office locations was previously helpful.
  • Knowledge of various medical insurance plans/payers such as Workers Comp/Personal Injury, Medicare, and Managed Care Operations as examples helpful.
