Dorchester County Public Schools is accepting applications for part-time Tutors in several schools. Tutors, under the supervision of certified staff, provide instructional services to students who need additional support with academics.
DUTIES:
- Supports teachers in work with individual students and students in small groups in order to reinforce and promote academic and behavioral successes.
- Assist teaching staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing content material and skills based on an understanding of individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Monitor and support students in computer assisted activities.
- Communicate on an ongoing basis with classroom instructors, reading interventionists, or instructional coaches the current student progress.
- Challenge students to reach each new goals and celebrate student success.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
- Adheres to school and district level expectations for staff conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At a minimum, high school diploma.
- Previous experience in a classroom setting preferred.
- Familiarity with accepted practices and procedures in working with students, to include those with behavioral problems.
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of understanding and acceptance of all children and interest in the education of students with special needs.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to accept supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work a consistent schedule each week.
