Catsnip Spay/Neuter Services of GA, a low-cost mobile feline spay and neuter clinic serving the greater

metro-Atlanta area, has an immediate need for full and part-time Veterinary Technicians to work on our

mobile unit.

Catsnip has been providing low-cost spay and neutering services for felines throughout the metro

Atlanta area since 2003. This is a demanding but rewarding job bringing low-cost veterinary services to

our clients, including high quality spays and neuters as well as testing, vaccines and micro-chipping.

Part-time techs can choose from specific locations (Cartersville; Cleveland; Clarksville; Dahlonega; Dallas;

Gainesville; Griffin; Madison; McDonough; Monticello; Snellville; Stone Mountain; Woodstock), while

full-time techs will cover all areas throughout the city. The unit typically runs four days per week

(weekdays with occasional weekend work). Clinics average 30 clients per day.

Vet techs will be expected to assist veterinary staff with surgery and handling of feline patients of all

weights (some ferals included). Additional job duties will include:

  • Intubate patients as necessary, starting of IV Catheters, if needed.
  • Administer injections, medications, treatments and supportive care measures as directed by attending veterinarians
  • Monitor anesthesia and identify any abnormal conditions
  • Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in preoperative, operative and postoperative phases
  • Prep patients for surgery observing procedures to assure sterility and safety of patients and follow the highest standards of care
  • Perform general duties in the operating room during surgery, assisting with movement of patients, recovery of patients, and general flow
  • Handle patient intake and release, including delivering post-operative instructions in a competent and friendly manner
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the surgical and front office team
  • Respond appropriately to an emergency, take direction from a veterinarian and direct others during the event
  • Maintain competency in CPR procedures
  • Accurate paperwork of logging anesthetic doses and drug logs
  • Assist with daily cleaning of kennels, carriers and surgical suite to ensure cleanliness of the unit
  • Handle and track controlled substances for large volumes of surgical patients, maintaining all necessary drug logs and patient records
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide additional support including obtaining high risk waivers, communicating no-surgery decisions and deliver special patient care instructions as needed

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience, preferably in a high-volume practice.

RVT/LVT preferred but not required. This position offers a competitive salary of $17.00 - $20.00 per

hour (depending on experience).
