The Vice President for Human Resources is to provide educational opportunities to students within available resources through the planning, directing, and implementation of effective and efficient Human Resources systems necessary to fulfill the functions of the College as described by the Board of Regents congruent with the College’s educational philosophy. The Vice President for Human Resources formulates and recommends approval of policies for the attainment of College goals and purposes.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s Degree.

A demonstrated pattern of success and 7 years of related work experience in senior-level human resource management in higher education, non-profit, government, or the private sector.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
An understanding of higher education management systems.

An understanding of and demonstrated commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.

Demonstrated ability to provide creative internal and external leadership.

Demonstrated commitment to innovation and the use and development of technology.

Strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills and the ability to build consensus; an accomplished facility in oral and written communication; and knowledge of national trends and developments in higher education human resources.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the various OCCC campuses.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading

4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Predominantly operates in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of Human Resources work experience at an institution of higher education.

A Juris Doctorate degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in employment law practice.
Required Training Work Hours
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m – 5 p.m., with frequent evening and weekends.
