General Summary:

The Volunteer Program Coordinator position for GLIDE’s Volunteer Program serves as a GLIDE representative to the community. The person works in tandem with the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to support and deepen volunteer engagement through recruitment, retention, and recognition within the local community. This position also supports the department's administrative process, operations, and communications to maintain effective and positive collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.

This position is expected to be onsite Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. This position is expected to work at major events and holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. There will be occasional work needed on evenings, weekends, and early mornings. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Respond to incoming general inquiries regarding GLIDE, holiday events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist with compiling materials for, scheduling, and facilitating virtual online orientations and other related meetings such as planning meetings, debriefs, and service-learning.
  • Greet and steward volunteers arriving for their shifts; promote opportunities for further engagement through volunteering.
  • Work with GLIDE staff, to develop and implement volunteer appreciation, recognition, and relationship cultivation plans and activities.
  • Participate on committees to produce special events, holiday activities, fundraisers, etc.
  • Represent GLIDE to external groups via presentations, staffing recruitment events, and attending meetings with community partners.
  • Help maintain and staff up the Daily Free Meals Program volunteer schedule of shifts and associated tasks, with a focus on mandated Community Service clients.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, attending, and actively participating in staff and individual meetings.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities, e.g., 2+ years’ experience working with volunteers within diverse communities.
  • Recruitment skills and a commitment to volunteer development and support desired.
  • Group facilitation skills helpful. Experience with presentation and promotion of services and events support helpful.
