Masjid Al Kawthar (Islaimic House of Worship) at 900 E Monument St Baltimore MD _Based out of 65 Central Street Andover MA 01810 is looking for a couple of volunteers to perform administrative and social media work. The person will report to Mr. Marouane Bah

A little about the Place: 900 E monument st was a former furniture warehouse of over 40,000 sq ft. today it is an abandoned storefront in the central business district of Baltimore. We hope to put a house of worship in 10,000 sq ft and a center of meeting and madrasa in the 10,000 additional sq ft. a place or worship, education and inspiration for spiritual healing.

General Requirements:

  • Strong Computer skills especially in Microsoft Office, (Mac/Microsoft based) desktop publishing (Photoshop) and database management audio/visual editing.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to recruit, mobilize and utilize volunteers

The volunteer would be responsible the administrative which would include but are not limited to:

  • Work with other full-time and part-time Administrative Assistants to coordinate overall office work-flow and attend support staff meetings as directed
  • Staff the office front desk during all hours of onsite, offsite/virtual
  • Answer all telephones and general emails; provide general information about the programs and schedules; convey messages to staff
  • Help setup the place of worship and taking on additional tasks as and when they arise
  • Welcome and guide visitors during special events such as Eid, Iftars, social gatherings, interfaith events as well as Jumu’ah. Conduct tours when conditions permit.
  • Teach children Islamic and Quranic studies and/or find and assist a teacher in the same
  • Work with our partner organizations to distribute food and other essentials, and support local shelters
  • Help organize fundraiser events for various activities

The volunteer would be responsible for handling the House’s Social Media:

  • Creating content,including text posts, video and images for use on social media handles using canva or photoshop,
  • Promoting the services and content over social media in a way that is consistent with the organization’s brand
  • Interacting with followers and their queries
  • Developing new social media strategies and campaigns in tandem to the House’s ideology
  • Keeping a track of data and analyzing social media campaigns

Essential Requirement:

  • Interested in working for a religious cause
  • Marketing experience, both online and offline
  • Good IT Skills
  • Familiarity with Social Media and tracking analytics
