VP of Professional Services Job at Inventive Group

Inventive Group Remote

100% remote opportunity for an eCommerce Product and Services company. The business is based in Los Angeles, CA, and North Carolina. North Carolina candidates are ideal, however, we are accepting candidates across the contingent United States.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Director/VP of Professional Services looking to step into a Chief Operating Officer role in short order.

This VP of Professional Services must be a true jack of all trades.

We’re looking for a seasoned software engineer with project and people management experience who is capable of making a serious impact - immediately and long-term. This company's leadership team has stayed united from the beginning, and they are ready to welcome a bonafide services and operations leader to take them to the next level.

To respect your time and interest, the interview process is a series of five 1:1 conversations.

Challenges and Opportunities

What’s unique about this role is that you’ll report directly to the CEO and be an integrator between teams:

  • Service and Delivery: Oversee the delivery of all service projects
  • Operations: Develop processes as well as detailed tracking and reporting to support delivery
  • Project Management: Continue to evolve SDLC processes and communication
  • Client Success: Make the customers and partners raving fans of the company
  • Product Development: Influence how the products develop to increase service velocity

Needless to say, servant leadership and pragmatic problem-solving are table stakes in this role. No matter how much they have grown, no one has ever been above ‘doing the things’. This leadership team loves to roll up their sleeves, constantly iterate, and stay focused on the work that matters.

Specifically, you will lead the Project Management team and have a place in the Senior Leadership Team. Providing clear direction and continuous feedback will be integral to your success.

Your most immediate priority will be to review the delivery process by identifying problems in the procedures and systems across the business. Sometimes, molehills can become mountains. Being equal parts strategic and proactive is key in your analysis!

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to review and continuously improve every policy, procedure, method, and tool that supports the company's deliveries. Everything that can go wrong, may go wrong! Ideally, you are a pragmatic problem-solver with great judgment and an eye for detail.

After improvements are made, you’ll continue to be responsible for managing project estimation, planning, and forecasting. You’ll oversee project implementation, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Then, you’ll begin establishing strategic plans and working on special projects.

Perhaps the most important priority you’ll have as VP of Professional Services is profitability. With you as a proxy, all projects and deliverables should be repeatedly completed on time and within budget.

Experience that’s required (and crucial to have):

  • 8+ years of professional, senior, full-stack software development
5+ years experience managing enterprise solutions; ideally in eCommerce
  • 3+ years of project or program management experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Proven success driving business transformation on an executive and enterprise level
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate tech and non-tech professionals toward a common goal
  • Endless enthusiasm for improvement; pragmatic & solution-oriented
  • A consistent track record of leading people and building high-performing teams
  • Natural bias toward repeatability, reliability, and efficiency

Wildly impressive folks will also have experience with:

  • Various roles and/or a majority of career in technical consulting
  • Co-founder of a business and/or entrepreneur mindset
  • Running towards the fire!

  • Passionate about software development (it’s okay to be obsessed)
  • Naturally pleasant, self-motivated, and driven
  • Optimistic and tackle challenges with a positive attitude
  • Cooperative and flexible in everything you do
  • Committed to continuous improvement in and out of work
