Summary

Responsible for the daily inspection and/or processing functions within the VPC Department in order to insure a quality vehicle is being shipped to the end customer on behalf of Glovis/HMA.


Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Primary

  • Inspect new vehicle exterior features for defects and/or damages
  • Operate IQS tablet (Samsung Tablet) and input defects found on vehicles
  • Inspect new vehicle exterior features in search for defects and/or damages
  • Must be attentive to detail
  • Communicate found defects

Secondary

  • Inspect vehicle according to company guidelines and procedures
  • Inspect vehicles according to the SWIS and Inspection Audit Form
  • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and fellow peers
  • Properly identify all defects and damages
  • Document all quality/damage issues, to track the number of issues and whether they are increasing or decreasing
  • Report any increase of the same defects to the Supervisor
  • Report any recurring issues to the Supervisor, so HMMA can be made aware and corrective action can be made

Tertiary

All other duties as assigned under Inspector including, but not limited to:

Fulfill various other roles such as driving, battery testing, tire pressure, and/or throw-in (i.e. floor mats, cargo nets, cargo trays, and owner’s manual) within the VPC department other than inspection

Maintain housekeeping standards

May have to work in other departments to help maintain daily production goals

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Must be willing and able to cross-train in other departmental needs
  • Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to use/operate a two-way radio
  • Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles
  • Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical abilities
  • Must have a general knowledge of automobile components


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
  • 1 year of experience required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experienced in mechanical, installation experience in a port-processing environment preferred
