Position: Welder Summary of Responsibilities: We are offering a temporary welder position during COVID-19 in Hillsdale, New York, located in Columbia County.
The welders primary responsibilities will be to weld equipment as needed. You will need to know MIG welding, and arc is a plus. You’ll learn from people who’ve been welding for over 30 years, and have the opportunity to be exposed to other skills as opportunities arise. From time to time, you’ll be asked to do ad hoc shop/laborer work to maintain premises and equipment, or possibly excavation work. Part of the position requires that you must participate in job safety training, including watching videos. More specific responsibilities include:

• Heat and dissolve metal parts to obtain molten substance used in welding or extrusion
• Adhere to health/safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a risk-free work environment at all times.
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions
• Repair structures by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling metal components using cutting torches and hand tools
• Monitor work equipment to ensure usage is within optimum temperature to avoid overheating or expansion
• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with chemical solutions and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture
• Direct electrodes on or across metal workpieces to melt, bend or straighten them
• Mix and apply protective or decorative coat on finished products.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces to identify and fix possible flaws
• Utilize braces and clamps in aligning metal components for welding
• Operate grinders and scrapers to prepare metal surfaces for welding operations.
• Weld components in flat, overhead or vertical positions.

Qualifications:

• Math Skill: Able to carry out complex calculations to determine the dimension and configuration of a welding project
• Physical Stamina: Able to perform welding operations under extreme conditions such as inclement weather and limited workspace
• Manual Dexterity: Sble to operate and utilize a range of power and hand tools in carrying out welding activities
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong project management skills with outstanding attention to detail
• Reliable, self-motivated and driven to succeed, even during moments when direction is limited
• Positive energy and outlook, containing a sense of humor and a ‘Get it done’ attitude
• Passionate about working and takes pride in their work
• Team player
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to work in the U.S.

Barbato Excavation offers services for residential and commercial customers, building roads, driveways, tennis courts, basketball courts, foundations, demolition, clean outs, septic systems, backhoe and bulldozing services, and other services involving the earth. We also provide stone, gravel, clean fill, topsoil, compost, bark mulch, wood chips and blacktop product.

Barbato Disposal offers weekly residential, commercial and industrial trash & recycling pick-up. Our available sizes are as follows: Roll offs (10-30 yard) and dumpsters (1.5-8 yard) for both commercial and residential jobs or cleanouts. Residential tote sizes of 65 and 95-gallon. We pick up both trash and recycling on the same day, making your life easier. We also offer residential household garbage drop off from furniture to trash bags.

Barbato Disposal also offers a Transfer Station on site that is open to the public. We accept construction debris, demolition, large items, household cleanups, and residential trash in bulk over a certified scale, offering you the most inexpensive way to get rid of your unwanted items.

We are environmentally responsible. We not only conduct business locally, we live here. Which is why we’ve built our own recycling and recovery transfer facility to help the cause of saving our land, rather than filling landfills. We started recycling even before it was a law, because it means that much to us.

We service Columbia, Berkshire, and Greene Counties, with some work in Litchfield and Rensselaer Counties. Located on State Route 23, just 2 miles from the MA/NY border, 15 miles from CT border, in Hillsdale, NY, ¼ east of the Hillsdale traffic light.
