Job Purpose Statement:

The position is responsible for the assembly and welding of the side plates required to produce a rim. Perform general inspection of wheel for quality. Work well within in a team environment. Flexibility and stamina, along with a dedication to producing a quality part, are essential qualities for this profession.

Summary of Responsibility:

• Meet daily production goals.
• Check production schedule prior to operation. Verify proper componenets.
• On automatic booth operation, disassemble, clean and assemble booth and equipment.
• Assemble various components into a rim, ready to be welded.
• Properly position assembled wheel into the welding machine and operate the welding machine.
• Places rims into welding machine insuring proper contacts.
• Closes welding machine door.
• Removes rim and inspects for acceptable quality, rejects improper welds.
• Performs stress test on welds per quality standards.
• Cleans nozzles and welding machine as needed.
• Required to keep work station neat and orderly
• Properly store and maintain production parts, tools, and other equipment.
• Maintain equipment and work area in safe and orderly conditions.

• Ensures that all safety devices are in place and operational prior to starting production.
• Reports to management any irregularities in quality, equipment needing repair any unsafe or malfunctioning safety devices or other equipment.
• Observes all safety rules and instructions.
• Responsible for checking own work for compliance with Quality Standards.
• Looks for other production irregularities.
• Reports to management any irregularities in production quality and on equipment needing repair, maintenance, or adjustments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

Educational:

• High School diploma/GED required, or commit to obtain a GED with Carlstar sponsored GED program within 12 months of hire date
• Basic reading, writing, arithmetic skills
• 1 year machine operation experience with automatic/robotic Welding experience.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Successfully pass a background check and physical exam.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to provide oral and written communication to all levels of employees within the company.

Physical:

• Excellent manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand for duration of shift, walking, bending, twisting.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs continuously throughout the shift
• Good hand/eye coordination
