Job Title: WINTER LIFT OPERATOR LEVEL I

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: Lift Supervisor

Rate of Pay: $15.00hr

Full-time, Seasonal Position; Four-Five shifts per week, Monday through Sunday

Day shifts 8:00am 5:00pm; Night shifts 3:30pm 10:00pm MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS


SUMMARY

Provides an exceptional chair lift experience to guests by promoting safety, positivity, providing assistance and answering questions about resort and basic mountain area information.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Works under the direction of the Director of Mountain Operations, lift supervisors, and lift foreman.

Observes and assists with the use and operations of Sundance's chairlifts.

Operate gasoline, diesel, or electric lifts that transport skiers, patrons and equipment up slope or mountainside.

Offers friendly customer service, exceeding guest expectations.

Responsible for checking and scanning all lift passengers for valid lift tickets.

Clears and adds snow where needed, noting in-time may be adjusted to accommodate opening the mountain.

Observes and assists with the loading, transporting and unloading of guests onto and off the lift.

Assists guests to their feet, or in and out of chairs as needed.

Observes patrons boarding lift to ensure they are properly seated in the chair.

Operates chairlifts in an efficient manner.

Ensures areas around lift stations are free of hazards.

Makes sure the daily lift logs are filled out correctly.

Sets up and tears down all lift line mazes.

Operates the lift line mazes in an efficient manner.

Uses guest names and strives to create positive, workplace appropriate relationships.

Answers any guest questions and addresses any guest concerns or problems to exceed service expectations.

Ensures effective on-mountain recycling program.

Performs any and all other tasks required of employees as needed.

Diplomatically handles awkward situations.

Prepares for extreme temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.

Resolves concerns in accordance with Sundance policies and the applicable laws.

Reports all injuries sustained to supervisor immediately.

Follows designated routes down, and stays within ability level while skiing/snowboarding.

Treats the guest with utmost concern while loading the chair or interacting with them.

Knows and abides by resort policies and regulations involving operation of the lift.

Pays special attention to groups with kids and always extends an offer to assist children when loading the lift.

Diligently checks for guests loading inappropriately or with unapproved items such as; dogs, alcohol, no lift ticket etc.

Is conscious of where co-workers are and assist as needed.

Skis or snowboards to and from your work stations (at an intermediate level).

Controls lift machinery to start, stop, and adjust speed of lifts, such as, handle tow and chair lift to provide an efficient and fun environment.

Collects and turns in expired, invalid, or fraudulently used passes and detains patron, referring situation to the Sundance Safety Office.

Is prepared to stay overnight if necessary during occasional times of road closures.

Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Customer service experience in the ski industry is preferred but not required.


TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Use of 2-way radio.

The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be working at night and may have special conditions such as low temperatures, ice, low visibility, etc.
