POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing (instructing) quality programming in the areas of youth, teen, and family physical and non-physical programming and special events, while also supporting overall operations of the branch. This position will be allocated with approximately 25 hours per week within Youth Programming and 15 hours per week in direct branch support (member services, lifeguarding and/or housekeeping).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop and deliver quality programs. Current scope of work includes programming such as: After School programming including youth sports and STEAM activities, Home School Phy Ed, Kids Day Out, Summer Camp, Year Around Foods, and Special Events, including Halloween, Healthy Kids Day, Fun Nights, and more.

2. Develop systems that will assess the needs of the community and the effectiveness of program delivery, with an emphasis on member and program participant satisfaction.

3. Facilitate and guide the teaching of character development in all program areas.

4. Coordinate and lead summer day camp operations; serve as a lead counselor in camp.

5. Participate in and complete HR-related functions of staffing the youth and family operation, including but not limited to: candidate screening, interviewing, performance reviews, employee coaching, and payroll approval processes.

6. Responsible for the construction and monitoring of the department's operational budgets and achievement of program financial benchmarks.

7. Pursue grants and other external funding sources that may support existing and future youth programs and opportunities.

8. Participate and support other YMCA special events and programs.

9. Participate in the development and coordination of room schedules.

10. Work with the Marketing Department in the creation of promotional materials to general interest and enrollment within the various Youth, Teen and Family Programs that are available.

11. Engage in community discussion and relationships that will enhance partnerships or be beneficial in understanding the needs of the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. At least 18 years of age.

2. Previous youth development experience is necessary.

3. Exhibit motivation, excellent work ethic, and attention to detail, proficient computer skills, accuracy and problem solving abilities. This position requires initiative, drive and patience, as well as the ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

4. Must be capable of working well with YMCA members, participants, and staff to promote and achieve the mission and goals.

5. Excellent communication skills are required to carry out responsibilities.

6. Complete New Employee Orientation within 30 days of your hire date.

7. Obtain a current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid Certificate.

a. This certificate is valid for two years and it is your responsibility to keep it up to date.

8. Complete Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of your hire date.

a. This training is required annually throughout your employment.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
