The Valley YMCA seeks a self-motivated, mission-driven professional to lead our youth, sports, and summer programs.
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Youth & Family Director will program, manage, and implement all youth & adult sports and Summer Sports Camp/programs. Along with providing supervision and leadership to all staff and volunteers, this position includes the planning, developing, administrating, expanding and evaluating all programs and services offered both with youth & adult sports as well as Summer Sports Camp and programs.
Qualifications
1. Self-motivated and highly organized individual with strong management/leadership ability, particularly in the areas of supervision, administration, budgeting, interpersonal relations, recruitment and training.
2. Expertise in program development, promotion and public relations. The ability to communicate effectively in large group settings is essential.
3. Prefer degree in Education, Recreation, P.E. or a related field.
4. Possess current First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED Training, or the ability to attain within 30 days of hire.
5. Required to have experience in organizing, conducting, supervising, and evaluating performance of assigned programs and staff.
6. Good verbal and written skills are required.
Essential Functions
1. Plans, develops, and executes programming and scheduling for the Valley YMCA Youth & Family Programs and Summer Day Camp.
2. Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development and on-going program evaluation and training of staff.
3. Identifies other program opportunities they may benefit the Valley YMCA.
4. Develops and manages the budgets related to programs and summer sports camp.
5. Ensures program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
6. Identifies and pursues sources of funding for program development and operation.
7. Provide program data, reports and statistics as required for assigned programs and state licensing.
8. Conduct regular staff meetings to inform, educate and enhance programs.
9. Maintain accurate personnel files to document employee performance.
10. Evaluate program popularity and attendance on a per session basis and adjust program needs to meet the demands and expectations of the population based on current demographics and trends.
11. In collaboration with other Directors write and execute all marketing and promotional information materials related to youth and family programs and summer sports camp.
12. Participates in special events throughout the year as needed.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director.
