608 Youth Care Worker I (YCW I)

YCW I’s shall be responsible for knowing and understanding all of the policies and procedures of the facility and will be required to sign a statement acknowledging such understanding. YCWI shall monitor residents to the maximum extent possible while allowing them privacy in restrooms and while dressing. YCW I’s shall be held responsible for knowing the resident’s whereabouts and actions at all times. YCW I’s are responsible for transporting residents to school, work, and appointments, etc(both day and night) and also provide the proper documents in order to operate facility vehicles. In order to manage this, YCW I’s shall interact with the residents and maintain a close physical proximity at all times. At no time is it acceptable for staff to be occupied in other pursuits, i.e. reading, talking on the telephone unless it is facility related, chatting with other staff while residents are in the other room, etc. If a situation occurs which requires additional staff to ensure adequate supervision, YCW I shall call management for additional help. This supervision level shall be maintained regardless of the location of the youth, such as a recreational trip, doctor office, store, etc.

A. Maintain accurate and up to date records of the shift. When changing shifts, the new shift should have all available information at hand and know what incidents occurred prior to coming on duty. Having all information available may prevent a crisis situation and give the new shift insight as to what to keep an eye on.
B. Assist residents with daily living activities.
C. Having a working knowledge of all policies and procedures and be able to apply accepted methods of youth care.
D. Maintain confidentiality of the residents. All YCW I’s will sign a confidentiality statement during in processing.
E. Have a duty to report child abuse or neglect to the management staff immediately learning of said incident
F. Staff is required to complete 32 hours of In-Service Training to be qualified to work with Residents in this setting. Staff will be placed on the work schedule for training and the schedule will reflect for training purposes. Staff will be paid for these training hours.
G. Staff are expected to be familiar with basic computer programs (Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, Microsoft Power point) and learn new phone apps and computer programs that are implemented by the agency. Staff will be trained on all programs utilized by the agency and are expected to maintain knowledge and proficiency as needed.

Qualifications for Youth Care Worker I:
A. All Youth Care Worker I’s shall be a minimum of 21 years of age to provide a minimum of three years age span between the maximum age of residents allowable in the facility and staff.
B. A minimum of a high school diploma
C. The ability to act independently while enforcing policies and procedures
