The Youth Career Consultant will provide continuous case management and follow-up services to assist customers in achieving employment goals and ensuring the retention of participants in all youth program activities. The Youth Career Consultant will work with program participants and partner agencies to develop individual service strategies that include mapping their career paths, providing job placement assistance, conducting orientations and information sessions, follow-up services, and connection to supportive services and resources.



The success of the Youth Career Consultant will depend upon their ability to meet performance goals for customers enrolled in programs completing training, credential attainment, entering and retaining employment, and earning wages of a specified standard.



The Youth Career Consultant reports to the Manager, Youth Services, and works closely with staff within the organization, representatives of local, state, and federal agencies/organizations, media, elected/appointed representatives, and the public. This role has no supervisory function and is exempt from overtime.

Essential Responsibilities:



Interaction with Program Participants
  • Conduct initial customer screenings to determine the level of service and support needed
  • Assist participants in choosing an appropriate career pathway based on assessments
  • Link participants with appropriate resources and services to accomplish career goals
  • Assist participants in obtaining employment by identifying suitable job leads and making referrals
  • Maintain regular contact with participants, based on needs and guidelines, and monitor their progress in achieving their career goals
  • Provide coaching and direction to keep participants on track
  • Deliver presentations and conduct orientations on eligibility and program services
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach events to build a participant pool


Case Management Regulatory Functions
  • Coordinate with appropriate agencies in obtaining necessary documents to assist in program eligibility and services, and confirm that participants meet requirements
  • Ensure that training and support services requests are processed accurately and timely
  • Record activities and interactions with participants, and coordinate job placement follow-up services in MWE or other database systems, with case notes and accurate service codes in keeping with regulations and internal policies
  • Complete reports as required to ensure the efficient and effective management of participant cases
  • Research demographic barriers to workforce services, and provide program design input
  • Regular engagement with demographic-based community agencies, to support referrals and reporting of progress for shared clients
  • Attend evening and weekend events in MD, DC, and VA, quarterly

Salary: $56,525
