TITLE: Seasonal Part-Time Youth Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation
SUPERVISORS: Parks & Recreation Director, Community Center/Library Manager
STATUS: Paid, Non-Exempt/Non-Union
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Under general supervision, perform responsible work in planning, organizing and assisting with various youth programs and events in the summer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential job functions listed below are intended to describe the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of other duties not listed does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
- Planning and coordinating various recreation and education programs for youth.
- Develop and implement a summer camp for youth with an emphasis on social skills, teamwork and educational development.
- Assist with updating the Facebook page and using other online publicity to promote programs and events.
- Plan for upcoming activities ensuring proper supplies, equipment and program spaces are available.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate in a friendly, tactful and professional manner with youth, city staff and the general public.
- Ability to lead and instruct children in a variety of recreational and educational activities.
- General knowledge with Word, Excel and Publisher.
Additional Duties Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess and maintain a Minnesota Class D driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Early Childhood & Youth Development or closely related field
- At least 1 year experience planning and developing programs for youth.
