Wage band range $17.00 - $24.00 per hour

Starting pay is typically around $19.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. This position does offer future growth opportunities.

Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in Camarillo, Casa Pacifica’s 25-acre Camino a Casa’s beautiful rural setting is four miles from the Pacific Ocean and midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

We have the best direct care team members, and we are looking for others to work alongside them. Each youth has a primary youth care worker (a youth development specialist) that gets to know them, builds a close relationship with them, takes them on outings, spends special time with them, engages them in the program, helps advocate for them within the cottage, coaches them on forming relationships and goal achievement, and is the “go to” person for the youth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as a primary counselor, i.e., mentor, parent figure, and advocate for assigned cottage youths.
  • Engages the youth in therapeutic activities, recreation, meal preparation, and chores.
  • Supervises, protects and cares for the youth in assigned cottage.
  • Coordinates a variety of activities for residents including recreation, meal preparation, chores, hobbies, etc.
  • Attends and participates in trauma-informed and direct care training programs.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in the resident's living area.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
:

Associate Degree and meet at least one of the following requirements prior to employment:

  • A valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
  • Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • A valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • A valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as
    determined by the department.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree

Qualifications Required:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid California driver’s license and insurability through Casa Pacifica’s automobile policy
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Ability to work as a team player and with a diverse population
