Youth Services Librarian Job at Town of Gorham, ME
Summary
The Youth Services Librarian works as a professional librarian under the general direction of the Library Director. The Youth Services Librarian is responsible for collection development and programming for youth (infant-high school), as well as parents and caregivers. The Youth Services Librarian coordinates all services, outreach, and activities in the Youth Services Department. The Youth Services Librarian collaborates with the School Department to provide programming, promote events, and provide outreach services to preschool and pre-K centers. This position has considerable contact with the public and supervises Senior Library Assistants, Library Assistants, and volunteers in the Youth Services Department. Compensation & Benefits
Salary range for Grade 4 positions begins at $23.34; however, actual wage will depend on experience, qualifications, and budget availability. The Town of Gorham offers a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, and paid time off to eligible employees. The Town currently pays 90% of the premium cost for all health insurance coverage levels and provides a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help cover the cost of out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as deductible and coinsurance. Individuals covered by an alternative health plan are eligible for an annual medical buyout in lieu of coverage (currently $2,250 - $5,048 based on coverage eligibility). In addition to a choice between two excellent health insurance plans and paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays per year, employees have access to dental, vision, medical and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, short-term disability, IRAs, tuition reimbursement, and more. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum Requirements - Minimum of a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree, or equivalent, from an ALA accredited program required. Prior practical library experience required. Prior experience working with youths required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
