Fragile Planet Wildlife Park is seeking a self-motivated, responsible, and dedicated zookeeper to conduct educational presentations to schools throughout the country. The ideal candidate will be proficient in working with a variety of animals including mammals, birds, invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles. The applicant should be a proven leader, team player, and available for flexibility in their schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Fragile Planet Wildlife Park is a new zoological facility located in Los Fresnos, TX; approximately 18 miles West of South Padre Island and in the heart of the world birding center. Surrounded by national, state, and community parks, the Rio Grande Valley offers a plethora of activities and sights for outdoors enthusiasts. FPWP opened it gates September of 2021 and currently conducts guided educational tours and presentations to its guests.

Staff are responsible for the daily care and operations of the park including and not limited to conducting guided tours, general animal care including but not limited to feeding, cleaning, watering, diet prep and enrichment as well as assisting in improving animal welfare through means of design and development of new exhibits, working with vet staff to appropriately medicate and care for animals, and maintaining animal records. Other responsibilities can include general grounds maintenance, hand-rearing infant wildlife as needed, acting responsibly with free-contact wildlife, and running errands including procurement of animal feed and forage, transporting animals to and from the veterinary clinic, etc.

Pay: From $10.00 per hour
