Overview Under general supervision, responsible for ensuring that project performance standards and objectives are clearly defined and achieved. This role involves identifying and addressing issues, recommending corrective actions, and verifying that work is completed to the required quality standards. Responsibilities may include conducting site visits, coordinating with contractors or internal teams, and supporting project activities as assigned by the department manager. Responsibilities Checks and approves building plans and inspects initial building construction, repairs, and current condition to ensure adherence to contract specifications, building codes and ordinances, and zoning regulations. Conducts interior and exterior inspections; checks the structural quality and general safety of buildings; inspects plumbing, electrical, and other systems to ensure that they meet code; and approves final inspection certificates. Understands and interprets building codes and conveys necessary information verbally and in documentation. Identifies changes in plans or construction that affect codes and communicates them to appropriate individuals. Documents and reports on code violations and poor compliance, including suggestions for bringing buildings up to code. Keeps logs, including photographs taken during inspections, and completes inspection reports. Issues violation notices and stop-work orders until the building is compliant. Evaluates existing buildings which have sustained physical damage from earthquakes, wind events, floods, or fire, as well as investigations involving non-permitted construction. May be assigned to residential or commercial structures. Qualifications Education, Experience and Certification Education Level : High School Diploma or GED or equivalent Years of Experience : 3 years (related or equivalent work experience) License/Certification : N/A Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of mechanical systems and construction management is required. Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, or a related field is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push up to 50 pounds of equipment or supplies. Ability to use a computer effectively to complete tasks. Microsoft Word and Excel skills are necessary. Written and oral communication skills are essential for success in this role. Travel Requirements 10% travel away from base location (base location is a specific office or home location).
