Job Title Join to apply for the Marina Dock Master role at City of Corpus Christi Overview The Marina is a 24/7 operations schedule. The Marina Dockmaster supervises all field staff for 24-hour shifts, 365 days a year in and inclement weather. This position creates weekly schedules, keeps the Marina manager informed of overall Marina condition, and leads the team in preventative measures for bad weather events such as tropical storms, hurricanes, flooding, high winds, etc. The Marina Dockmaster researches the best practices, aids, and develops new marketing efforts and Marina growth and development as well as participates in new building and dock designs, sets goals for staff and is the public relations with tenants, general public, and other departments, identifies maintenance issues and coordinates work, tracks expenses, and provides staff training. Responsibilities Supervises team, ensures they are completing all assigned tasks Trains team on proper use of equipment, tools, securing boats, identifying issues regarding vessels, tenants, and docks Schedules repairs and work orders Creates weekly schedule Conducts employee performance evaluations Hires and trains team on first aid, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, lockout tagout procedures wearing proper PPE, confined and enclosed spaces, shipyard procedures, fire protection, material handling, safe boating techniques, mariner procedures and proper knot tying techniques Maintains all documentation Collects data for storm water pollution prevention monthly reports Responds to all environmental requests and reporting requirements Contacts and conducts all written reports for General Land Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and other agencies regarding such issues Maintains current spill prevention inventory, conducts trainings, meets regularly with local, state and federal agencies Maintains professional and technical knowledge by keeping current with industry Conducts periodic safety inspections of Marina complex: Peoples T-Head, Lawrence T-Head, and Coopers Alley L-Head. This includes infrastructure assets including docks, boat yard security of gates and Marina cameras Watches for occupational hazards, in compliance with safety regulations especially those related to boating, marina, navigation and water safety as well as other work‑related precautions Informs the marina manager of all issues which could adversely impact the departments as well as positive impacts occurring Collaborates with vendors, contractors, other City departments such as Engineering Development Services, and Asset Management to coordinate work and complete projects and repairs Develops and maintains professional relationships with employees, other departments, and other outside agencies such as the Port of Corpus Christi Screens and responds to inquiries, issues, and complaints. Research additional information as needed Assists with planning of Marina infrastructure design and replacement Capital budgeting support and daily monitoring of maintenance purchases Provides administrative support if needed Develops, updates, and enforces standard operating procedures including rules regulations, and ordinances Maintains marina inventory including all assets such as boats, vehicles, life safety devices, golf carts, boat equipment and tools Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Exempt – Full‑Time Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; required to be on call (Schedule could be subject to change) Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well‑being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree (AA/AS) or 2‑year technical certificate Four (4) years of related marina operations/boat operations experience and supervising personnel Licenses and Certifications Required A valid driver's license is required; successful out‑of‑state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire General knowledge of marine electrical, plumbing, boat engines, vessels, and hydraulic systems Must be able to swim Required within six (6) months of hire First Aid / CPR Certification Employment Testing Criminal Background Check: Yes Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes Drug Screening: Yes Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications.
