JOB TITLE: Teacher Assistant/Facilitator-MDCC

LOCATION: Humphreys County High School

SALARY: Teacher Assistant Schedule

WORK DAYS: 187 Days - 10 Month Employee

REPORTS TO: Principal

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt


POSITION OVERVIEW:

Humphreys County High School Early College Program was established through a partnership with Mississippi Delta Community College. The community college adopted a school-within-a-school model at Humphreys County High School. Students enrolled in Humphreys County High School Early College work to earn an Associate's degree from Mississippi Delta Community College and their high school diploma from Humphreys County High School. The MDCC chaperone/tutor will support the goals of the Mississippi Achievement School District.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attentive to the needs of the students and be the students’ primary adult contact
  • Know the locations and whereabouts of each student assigned to him or her
  • Dress in a manner that is appropriate for the educational experience
  • Provide subject-specific content to help students through drop-in, pull out and or extended school day assistance
  • Committed to providing tutorial services for identified students
  • Participates in team meetings with school personnel, as needed
  • Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve tutorial skill and continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills
  • Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success
  • Models the mASD core values: Accountability, Commitment, Integrity, Teamwork, and Compassion.
  • Attends training as requested
  • Recognize your role as a mandated reporter and report any problematic issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exhibit a genuine concern for all students and community
  • Skilled in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
  • Ability to work in a diverse and high energy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries with high integrity
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to pass a background check
