Using your hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, talking and hearing are all large parts of doing this job. Some walking is required. Expect to lift 10 - 50 lbs on a regular basis and 51 - 100 lbs or more very rarely. You will need excellent vision especially distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), and good peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point). Climbing wall attendants must be able to physically support a wide range of climbers from children to adults. Duties will require long periods of standing and performing rope work.

- Set up climbing wall for daily operation
- Perform routine safety checks of gear and environment prior to start of business each day
- Belay customers and instruct in safe climbing procedures
- Communicate with climbers and provide encouragement
- Answer questions relating to Kitty Hawk Kites and recreational activity offerings
- Answer questions about the area (Outer Banks)
- Maintain clean, safe working environment
- Other duties may be assigned

- Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
- correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers,
- clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
