AB (Able Bodied Seaman) Job at McDermott
Job Overview:
The Able Body Seaman reports to the Chief Mate and has responsibility to maintain the vessel in a clean and sanitary condition.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintenance, store handling, line handling, and work directed by the Captain/Master and Chief Mate.
- Performs bridge watch standing, anchor watcher, and gangway watcher as required.
- Maintains vessel in clean and sanitary conditions.
- Trains and assists in evaluation of Ordinary Seamen in practical operations of equipment, such as booms, tackle; efficient work practices and teamwork.
- Performs any other duties assigned.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must possess USCG and Flag State Merchant mariner’s document with endorsement of Able Bodied Seamen.
- Holds current STCW endorsements applicable to vessel upon which he/she is serving
