Job Objective:

To provide on-the-job discovery, assessment and support to participants placed in competitive employment in the community. This position is essential to Ability First and the fulfillment of Goodwills mission to Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement. This position reports to the Director of Ability First who reviews job performance annually on anniversary of hire date.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
  • Review and assess participant strengths, abilities, limitations, and barriers.
  • Coordinate and participate in appropriate Discovery activities.
  • Attend orientation with participants and assist as needed with all paperwork on the job site.
  • Document participant performance and work-related behaviors utilizing detailed case notes.
  • Submit weekly timesheets to appropriate staff for those participating in a Situational Assessment and/or Work Experience.
  • Serve as an advocate/mediator for the participant, concerning employment-related issues.
  • Provide the Ability First team with information and updates on participant needs that should be addressed.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and offer quality services.
  • Provide accurate billing to Case Managers to remain in compliance with funding streams.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent plus work experience.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently manage schedule. Have accountability of assigned work responsibilities to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate others, understand and relate to the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Ability to keep accurate documentation concerning participants activities and hours spent.
  • Ability to adjust to a flexible 40- hour work week schedule.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to physically perform the job duties of the participants.
  • Office environment.
  • Job site conditions will vary dependent on various community job sites.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to the various job sites.
  • Provide proof of insurance and current drivers license.
