The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.


About the Opportunity


Student and Learner Placement, IPP&L works collaboratively with educational institutions across Canada and beyond, as well as staff and leaders from across all zones of Nova Scotia Health to coordinate hands-on placements for postsecondary students from a wide range of health and non-health disciplines.

Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader/ Manager, Provincial Student Learner Placement, the Access Coordinator independently coordinates the placement of students and learners from a variety of universities and colleges into departments within Nova Scotia Health Central Zone for non-paid work terms and clinical placements, with focus on Eastern Zone. Responsibilities include initiation of affiliation agreements, building and maintaining positive working relations with academic partners and students, processing numerous coinciding placements while avoiding scheduling conflicts, providing students with access to patient care related IT programs and security access, maintaining a web-based database for placements, processing invoices for academic partners, and reporting on evaluation and statistical information related to placements.

Flexibility to work from home may be an option.


About You


We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


  • Grade 12 plus one year post-secondary program in office administration, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years related clerical/administration experience
  • Knowledge of NSHealth Eastern Zone operations an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in courteous and effective communication and relationship building with team members and various partners within and external to the health system
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear messaging for various documents, i.e. reports, correspondence
  • Proficiency in management of computer files, word processing skills and data base functions
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while handling numerous competing priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Existing knowledge of various NS Health departments an asset
  • Existing knowledge of various academic programs in Nova Scotia and throughout Canada an asset
  • Understanding of and experience with HSPnet an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work


Long Assignment, Full-Time (70 hours biweekly)

Salary Information


$24.96 - $27.61 hourly
$45,424 - $50,242 annually
