General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Specimen Processor Lead, responsible for data entry, specimen preparation, and maintaining documentation. This position requires high levels of organizational skills and accurate data input. Attention to detail is required to ensure appropriate result reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accessioning of specimens received into the laboratory.
- Responsible for unpacking and routing specimens to their respective staging areas.
- Responsible for data entry of requisitions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for accurately identifying and labeling specimens.
- Tasks are to be performed in such order as to always continue the workload of the technologist, if possible.
- Responsible for resolving and documenting any problem specimens.
- Responsible for updating incoming specimen processors of all pertinent information regarding current tasks being performed.
- Responsible for maintaining and documenting requisition forms as per SOP.
- always Maintaining personal and professional confidentiality.
- Maintain courteous and professional relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
- Assist in personnel shortages as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous data entry experience and organizational skills.
- Must be meticulous.
- Ability to manage high work volume accurately at a fast pace and to work independently of supervision.
- Proficient in MS Office/Excel
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift from floor to waist up to twenty-five pounds.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions. A
- Must be comfortable handling biological specimens.
- Must possess the ability to utilize visual and auditory senses to complete all job duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work in a typical office and healthcare environment.
