Job purpose
This position is located at the Auburn Hills Propulsion Technical Center.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for managing the sales and profitability of accounts assigned, by directly influencing relevant internal and external commercial activities. This includes commercial management of assigned accounts, with a focus on profitable revenue growth, business expansion and business maintenance, as well as customer relationship management. In this role, you will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, finance, purchasing, quality and program management functions to ensure company goals are met. You will make an impact in our team and with our Customers by bringing your positive attitude, strategic thinking and innovative approach toward Internal and External Customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
  • Sales functional lead for BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems (DTS) North America for the assigned customer account, as well new business.
  • Oversee sales and commercial management for customer programs of the assigned customer accounts. This includes but is not limited to RFQs, engineering changes, contract management, documentation of customer-owned tooling, customer portal management, VA/VE activities, capacity management and negotiations, mentorship of plant employees new to the customer, etc.
  • Secure win-win outcomes with customers while ensuring a favorable outcome for BorgWarner.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment for customer strategies with functions like Engineering, Finance, Program management, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality.
  • Negotiate product pricing and commercial recovery strategies for all commercially related events ensuring a favorable outcome for BorgWarner.
  • Lead the development and deployment of comprehensive customer business acquisition strategies that improve the profitability and long-term growth of the business unit's systems.
    • Develop and deploy pricing strategies around market complexities required to win the business.
    • Identify and lead pursuit of new business opportunities at assigned customers with existing products or new products for continued new business growth.
  • Develop strong presentations that message the customer strategy, goals and opportunities.
  • Build strong rapport with the key decision makers and influencers at the Customer.
  • Provide key recommendations for product portfolio management of this market segment to management leadership team involving our product line strategy and business leadership.
  • Responsible for total customer satisfaction, monitoring DTS Systems performance on key supplier metrics in the key areas of Cost, Quality, Delivery and overseeing corrective action plans as appropriate at all the levels of the organization.
  • Articulate a clear understanding of our global industry market trends, competitor position & strategies, and customer development trends and direct relevant information to the appropriate functional teams for consolidation in forecast and market sensing processes.
  • Leading customer commercial contracts execution by negotiating and coordinating with the BorgWarner legal counsel if necessary, ensuring compliance with BorgWarner commercial policies.
  • Support the management and maintenance of DTS sales processes, process improvements and account information management.

  • 6 years OE automotive sales account management and/or engineering experience (minimum)
