OVERVIEW

The successful candidate for this position is one who thrives on identifying and solving challenges by applying accounting logic. This full-time position works closely with the CFO and the finance team, and also engages with all staff throughout the organization. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight in the accounts receivable functions of the organization, including the review and approval of the input of others
  • Monthly departmental financial reporting and analysis of budget variances
  • Manage month-end close and prepare monthly closing journal entries
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Perform assigned account reconciliations on a periodic basis
  • Assist and prepare audit schedules during annual financial audit
  • Assist with processing pledges during the annual campaign cycle
  • Commitment to the compliance and development of internal control structure

Minimum requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with major in accounting
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience (not-for-profit accounting preferred)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Capacity to be self-directed while working as a member of a larger team
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, possess a high level of accuracy in work product, and commitment to defined deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with experience in database programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
