SUMMARY

Responsible for the comprehensive accounting function regarding the Pipe & Fittings Operating Plant. Maintain accounting journals, general ledger, and various financial data for the P&F business. Prepare management reports and reconcile accounts; analyze financial statements and data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the accounting of Pipe & Fittings plant including sales, cost of goods sold, SG&A, Inventories, and all other Balance Sheet accounts.

  • Perform general ledger accounting which may include: (i) general ledger account analysis and preparation of journal entries for depreciation, allocations, accruals, etc.; (ii) analyze/reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts and make correcting entries; (iii) prepare and record asset capitalizations according to company policy and procedures; (iv) analyze and reconcile general ledger to the fixed asset computer subsystem to ensure accuracy of monthly depreciation/amortization expense; (iv) assist in development and analysis of various monthly historical cost and statistical reports and (v) prepare other general ledger account reconciliations and analyses as needed; (vi) review Segment PL and take necessary actions.

  • Assists Accounting Manager with, and responsible for portions of monthly close of the Brownsville, TN Manufacturing Statement, P&L and Balance Sheet, monthly forecasting, annual budgets, monthly and quarterly reporting, in addition to assisting with reviews and audits, improvement activities for Vinyls Accounting.

  • Perform backup duties for the site Accounting Manager including monthly forecasting model, variance analysis of actuals to forecasts and budget preparation.

  • Assist with both internal and external audit inquiries.

  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Two plus years of experience in accounting and external reporting is required, preferably in vinyl, plastics, or related industry. Public accounting experience desirable. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems including AX, Sage, and SAP BPC is critical to the position. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel (required).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with preference towards a CPA.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
