SDSU’s Cashier’s Office is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual with excellent customer service skills to join our team as an Accounting Assistant.
Job Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for the billing and collection of tuition and fees for student account revenues; process and deposit monies collected by University departments and handle collections of past due balances on student accounts that can include tuition, housing, meal plans, health services accounts, and parking fees. The individual in this position will be the primary contact for all students for collection on their outstanding accounts.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Basic accounting practice and principles
  • Computers and systems such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Account receivable and account reconciliation
  • Collection of outstanding accounts
  • 1098T tax document(s)

Skill & Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and electronic messaging when collecting on outstanding student accounts
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Interpret, explain and apply policies and procedures
  • Extract data from computer systems
  • Recognize discrepancies
  • Handle large sums of money
  • Resolve problems
  • Understand complex billing structure
  • Prioritize work to meet competing deadlines
