Accounting Technician

Cleveland County Water (CCW) is a Sanitary District located in Cleveland County, NC. CCW is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Technician. CCW serves public water supply to a population of 60,000 and has over 22,000 active accounts.

The Accounting Technician position performs intermediate technical work processing payments from customers, balancing and verifying daily cash receipts, preparing deposits, entering data into the computer system, assisting customers, preparing and maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Finance Director.

A high school diploma or GED and minimal experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. General knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures; general knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, and procedures; general knowledge of standard office procedures and practices; general knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to follow detailed work procedures; ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, bank representatives, and the general public.

Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina is required upon hire.
