Job Summary: Under the direction of the Activity coordinator, the Activity Assistant will assist in planning, coordinating and implementing therapeutic activity programs on a daily basis to meet the individual resident’s needs and interests.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Encourage and arrange for participation in social activities.
- Plan and implement activities, including monthly activity calendar.
- Assist and lead assigned group or one-to-one programs.
- Assist residents to/from activity programs. Encourage participation.
- Maintain up to date daily attendance of residents in programs, organizational systems or special needs lists (i.e. church list, birthday list, etc).
- Assist with outings.
- Prepare work area equipment and supplies prior to each program and clean area following programs.
- Develop and display thematic and holiday decorations throughout the facility.
- Maintain knowledge of supplies and materials and keep in good condition.
- Report any unusual findings or safety concerns to supervisor or nurse on duty. (Note: If in doubt of safety concern, report the findings.)
- Report all incidents and unusual occurrences for residents, staff or visitors in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of Oak View Suites living area.
- Maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff. Take action to remove safety hazards and prevent injury.
- Cooperate with other departments and support staff in the delivery of care and services to residents.
- Assure resident rights and dignity is maintained at all times.
- Adhere to all Oak View Suites policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all John Knox Village policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all John Knox Village rules and regulations such as driving, parking and smoking.
- Follow chain of command.
