United Heritage is looking for an experienced Life actuary to join our Actuarial Team. This role is engaged in a variety of areas, from valuation to product development to financial projections, making it an exciting opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of the organization.


Job Summary

This position is responsible for valuation, pricing, and financial projections/analysis.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Asset Adequacy Analysis: Maintain model for asset adequacy analysis and projections. Update assumptions used in model. Examine experience to update assumptions. Work with the Appointed Actuary on required supporting documentation.
  • Product Development: Participate in Product Development meetings, assist in design of product features, research and determine pricing assumptions and price products using actuarial software.
  • Design, maintain, and conduct experience studies
  • Perform required annual illustration testing
  • Perform required annual Triple-X testing.
  • Statutory Financial Reporting: Implement and maintain use of AXIS software system for statutory and tax reserve generation.
  • Prepare and review the actuarial portions of the financial reporting for UHLIC.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Business projections for Accounting
  • Report on annuity and preneed credited interest
  • Maintain integrity of agents balance system and ledger values
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in mathematics, actuarial science, or a related field
  • Computer knowledge of actuarial software (Moody’s AXIS), R, and SQL; ability to learn company-specific software
  • Modeling knowledge
  • Supervisory and coaching skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills and ability to pay attention to detail
  • Knowledge of current actuarial methodology

Working Conditions
This position involves extensive work on the computer as well as reading and reviewing written material.
