Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for Addiction Recovery Coaches to work in a Correctional facility in Wayne, MI. Recovery Coaches will be responsible for providing direct services to parolees and probationers under supervision by the facility. This position is responsible for providing information, support, assistance, advocacy, or "systems navigation" to these individuals and is based on a recovery-oriented support environment that advances the recovery orientation.

Pay Rate-

$18/hr working 40 hours a week

Job Duties

  • Educate offenders about substance use and/ or mental health disorders.
  • Offer outreach services to meet offenders in the community so to engage them in services.
  • Meet with individuals to assist them in scheduling treatment.
  • Provide support as the offender experience challenges, they do not have the skills and/or support to solve.
  • Educate about pathways to recovery and the development of crisis/ wellness plans.
  • Review the parole plan with the offender and discuss resources and supports available to them to assist them in being successful.
  • Develop a plan to assist offenders if they feel overwhelmed and worry that they may abscond or violate parole.
  • Contact offenders who absconded and encourage them to turn themselves in by exploring the consequences and the benefits of doing so.
  • Assist offenders with applying for and maintaining benefits such as Medicaid, SSI/SSDI, SNAP benefits/Bridge Card, etc.
  • Meet with offender and their family to provide support, encouragement, community resources and education regarding substance use disorders and their effects.
  • Assist with strengthening and reunifying the relationship with their children.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

· Provide specialized knowledge about mental health and/or substance use disorders to agents.

  • Attends meetings with agents to discuss individuals under supervision.
  • Provide updates regarding the offender’s treatment services, successes and needs to the agent.
  • Be an immediate resource to agents when an individual shows a positive drug or alcohol screen, or voice difficulty maintaining a drug free/ recovery lifestyle.

· Make appropriate referrals for services in the community

· Advocate on the behalf of the individual when treatment services are not meeting the need of the offender or could be improved to better meet the needs of persons with Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorder.

· Mark contact with treatment team to discuss individuals progress and needs.

· Enter information department’s computerized document base regarding significant contacts or events involving a parolee/ probationer.

  • Complete any documentation needed for submission

Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· 1 year of experience in related field is desirable.

· Recovery Coach certification preferred
