QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institutional in education or a related area;
  • Knowledge of tutorial programs and the needs of low-income, potential first-generation to college students;
  • Ability to convey knowledge of tutorial discipline to others in a practical and comprehensive manner;
  • Ability, if needed, to convey knowledge of tutorial discipline to others in a virtual environment;
  • Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences;
  • Ability to interact with middle and high school students;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others;
  • Willingness to make students active partners in the learning process;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail as well as the possession of good judgment and a strong work ethic;
  • Computer proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and the Internet;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and through written skills;
  • Ability to represent Educational Talent Search in a positive manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Preparing lesson plans and course outlines on given subject (English, Language Arts, Math, Science, Technology) utilizing Sunshine State Standards;
  • Facilitating quality, engaging instructional services;
  • Providing academic support and encouraging students to become independent learners;
  • Cultivating and maintaining an environment that is conducive to student learning.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Working with ETS staff to provide tutorial assistance and academic support to students;
  • Utilizing resources to promote/enhance student learning, i.e. texts, software, websites, printed materials, virtual classrooms;
  • Attending staff meetings with the Program Director and other staff to plan and evaluate program operations;
  • Maintaining an awareness of current College and department policies and guidelines;
  • Completing other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
