The Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degrees offered through Clark State's Arts and Sciences Division are designed for students whose primary goal is to transfer to a four-year college or university after attending Clark State. Adjunct teaching opportunities are available in classroom and online environments at various outreach site locations, including Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Clark State's Springfield locations, the Greene Center in Beavercreek and at the YMCA in Xenia.

Positions are available for day and evening, classroom and online. Prior teaching in a collegiate setting is preferred. Blackboard certification required for all online instruction. Training will be provided.

Major responsibilities are in the area of teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are expected to be progressive in instructional strategies and in their discipline and to be collegial in their relationships with colleagues, staff, and students. Each adjunct faculty member is directly responsible to a departmental/school administrator.

Primary duties include classroom instruction with on ground and online teaching as appropriate, assessment of student learning and participation in college-wide initiatives. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills with the ability to work in teams. The position reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.

Teaching/Learning

Successful teaching in a learner-centered environment requires knowledge as well as the ability to design, implement, manage and assess courses taught in a variety of instructional modes. Each adjunct faculty member is required to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the subject area(s)
  • Use instructional and discipline specific technology
  • Design courses that effectively meet student and curricular needs
  • Accommodate students with varying backgrounds and learning styles
  • Develop and use syllabi within College/School guidelines
  • Deliver course content successfully
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning
  • Manage courses such that students receive regular feedback and college reports are submitted in a timely fashion
  • Meet all classes or provide alternatives
  • Provide external support for students and through cooperation with student services
  • Maintain professional relationships with students

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in the discipline or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the discipline or related area subject area. Teaching experience preferred.

Compensation for Adjuncts in Non-Clinical Courses

$520 - $577.50 per load hour or $26.50 - $29.50 per contact hour based upon length of service with Clark State.

Compensation for Adjuncts in Clinical Courses
$31 - $36.50 per contact hour based upon length of service with Clark State.
