PART-TIME, 10-20 HOURS PER WEEK.

The Dynamic Compression Sector (DCS) – Washington State University at the Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL, seeks a highly motivated and capable Administrative Assistant to support a fast-paced, professional office setting in the areas of purchasing, records maintenance/filing, customer service, and general office duties.

Part-Time Undergraduate and Graduate Student Position. Wage is $16.00 per hour.

Duties:

  • Provide purchasing support, such as placing orders, calling vendors to inquire order status, tracking shipments for staff, and inventory.
  • Perform general office reception, meeting and videoconferencing setup.
  • Complete special projects as determined by the administrative staff.

Qualifications:

  • Organized, outstanding professionalism, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work based on independently with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong skills in using MS Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ideally, this position will be filled by an undergraduate student with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management and/or Communications.

About Dynamic Compression Sector: Washington State University (WSU) is seeking to hire a strongly self-motivated, talented experimentalist to work with scientists and engineers at a first-of-a-kind experimental user facility: The Dynamic Compression Sector (DCS) at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory. The DCS constitutes a new paradigm for understanding the dynamic compression and deformation response of materials subjected to extreme conditions on short time-scales. Real-time, atomistic-scale investigations of condensed matter phenomena are undertaken in single event experiments through time-resolved, in-situ measurements utilizing the tunable, high energy X-ray capabilities at the APS.
