I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:
At GW’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, research thrives, critical thinking is endemic, and collaboration is constant, and real-world training go hand-in-hand with learning. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Advising, this position provides administrative support to one or more individuals. This position is base at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates schedules and maintains calendar(s) for assigned staff, prioritizing and arranging meetings and appointments and may assist in coordinating room reservations, as needed.
  • Assists the Senior Administrative Associate to help current students and from prospective students to alumni, who come to the office for advising services.
  • Answers incoming phone calls and assists with maintaining the office email account.
  • Assist with indexing, assigning, and organizing uploaded advising forms in GW Box and GW Docs.
  • The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with general office equipment and experience with MS Office to include Excel and Word.
  • Previous experience with data entry, archiving, and retrieval using enterprise software – Ellucian Banner and GW Docs preferred.

Typical Hiring Range
$18.75 - $24.42 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
