Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Division of Cannabis Regulation is growing and is seeking qualified candidates to ensure the success of this developing area. The Department is tasked with licensing and regulating adult use cultivation centers, cannabis craft growers, cannabis infusers, cannabis transporters, and Community College Vocational Cannabis Pilot Programs. The Administrative Assist I position will report to and assist the Cannabis Testing Laboratory Bureau Chief. You will help the division to meets it mandate on testing of Cannabis and Hemp products. This position will handle the administrative work for the Bureau and will work with the Bureau Chief on various administrative issues within the Cannabis Testing Laboratory. The Administration is committed to creating a fair and equitable adult-use cannabis industry in Illinois. IDOA is helping achieve that goal by providing Illinois residents, specifically those who live in communities that were disproportionately impacted by the failed war on drugs, with multiple entry-points to this new industry." Job Responsibilities

Assist with state traceability system.

2. Assists inspectors, supervisors, and management with.

3. As Bureau’s personnel and budget and fiscal liaison.

4. Composes complex letters, reports, plans, memorandums, etc.

5. Routinely travels to.

6. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business, public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers extensive knowledge of Division programs and service objectives, activities, and operational systems.
  • Prefers working knowledge of agency programs, rules and regulations.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of computer program applications.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience working in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of manual and automated office equipment.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of arithmetic computations.
  • Prefers working knowledge and background in Personnel and Budgetary.
  • Prefers extensive knowledge of principles of office management.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass background check.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to occasionally travel statewide.
