      Position Summary
      (Classified as: Student Services Professional II)

      Full-time position available on or after March 20, 2023 in Admissions.


      Under the general supervision of the Interim Director, AOS, this position will provide a variety of services for prospective students, and will strategize to identify particular communities of students and an appropriate recruitment plan. This position will provide a variety of campus information and services to prospective students and others interested in post-secondary education at Stanislaus State.


      Job Duties

      Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Establish and maintain direct contact with prospective students (grades 7-14), their parents, counselors and teachers to promote post-secondary education and provide information regarding CSU admission requirements, procedures and timelines, financial aid programs, academic opportunities and student services available at Stanislaus State, through individual advising and group presentions.
      • Interview individual prospective students and review documents and forms required for CSU admission, financial aid, scholarships and other service opportunities.
      • Travel to and Visit local and out of area assigned schools to provide outreach services related to CSU admissions such as; in class presentations, application workshops, college nights and other college readiness related events.
      • Follow up, track, and communicate with prospective students and assist them from prospect through enrollment.
      • Collect and review school data and set application goals for assigned schools/areas and attain established enrollment goals.
      • Develop strategies to promote the educational opportunities at Stanislaus State to students outside the six county service areas.
      • Analyze the historical profile of enrollment patterns and identify strategic areas of recruitment.
      • Review all steps in the application process in order to reduce barriers and enhance satisfaction as student’s progress through the admission cycle.
      • Provide correspondence and what’s next steps to prospective students who have applied to Stanislaus but have not enrolled for classes
      • Provide prospective students with clarification on college readiness test scores such as EAP, SAT and/or ACT, and provide them with advice on next steps.
      • Assist with on and off campus recruitment efforts often on weekends such as: Preview Day, Open Houses, CLYC, Counselor Conferences, Warrior Welcomes, etc.
      • Assist with scheduled Saturday campus tours advising.
      • Maintain current knowledge of University courses, majors, prerequisites, general education, graduation requirements, procedures, rules and regulations, and other student services including financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
      • Maintain knowledge of career exploration strategies and best practices, major and career outcomes, matching majors to careers
      • Attend training sessions and professional development conferences and meetings.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications

      Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college of university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

      Experience: Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services programs areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

      • Demonstrated interviewing and counseling techniques, and knowledge of individual and group dynamics.
      • Ability to acquire rapid understanding of the CSU Stanislaus organization, procedures and activities.
      • Knowledge of CSU admission requirements and policies preferred.
      • Excellent public speaking skills. Ability to present to large and small audiences.
      • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, ability to gather and analyze data and draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
      • Knowledge and extensive experience utilizing a personal computer and software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database management, internet communications and electronic calendaring systems.
      • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with High School and community college partners, CSU campus community and other private and public agencies.

      • Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Knowledge of CSU admission requirements and policies preferred. Demonstrated interviewing and counseling techniques, and knowledge of individual and group dynamics. Possess excellent public speaking skills.
      • Ability to carry out daily assignments without immediate direction, perform tasks to the judgment of the employee, solve problems and take action. Initiative and creativity are required for situations involving changing guidelines and regulations or where existing procedures must be applied to unusual circumstances.
      • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, ability to gather and analyze data and draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
      • Knowledge and extensive experience utilizing a personal computer and software applications for word processing spreadsheets, database management, internet communications and electronic calendaring systems.
      • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, administrators, student organizations, and other private and public agencies.
      • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills.
      • Required to possess a valid CA driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation.
        Ability to work an adjusted schedule (evenings and weekends) as required

      Salary Range

      Anticipated salary will be $4,610 – $5,532 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full Student Services Professional II range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month)
