The role of an S2STEM After School Robotics Coach / Kelly Tutor.

  • Plan for new robotics challenges each year when season starts (themes are published by LEGO in August and Makewonder in October).
  • Build and compile material needed to complete robotics challenges. Utilize current S2STEM content and augment as needed to support students.
  • Coach and mentor robotics teams.
  • Assist teams in building robot designs and coding the missions as needed.
  • Inspire and motivate teams before and during the competitions to excel and stretch their boundaries.
  • Plan for guest speakers and network in the local community to implement innovative ideas for middle school robotics teams.
  • Plan and attend local robotics events with teams.
  • Create a fun and safe learning environment while maintaining a tidy and orderly classroom.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and counselors/teacher assistants.
  • Retrospect on the overall season and incorporate learnings into future planning.
  • Work in large group sessions with students after school. These sessions will be in-person.
  • Work in collaboration with S2STEM team under the direct supervision of the Kelly® Education Tutoring Solutions Team.

Specific information about the Kelly® Education / S2STEM After School Robotics tutoring program in Garnet Valley, PA.

  • Provide in-person tutoring / Robotics Club after school program support for ages 5-12
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday from 3-6pm (1-3 days/wk) and Saturdays 9am-12pm or 1-4pm
  • Compensation: $23-25/hour, weekly pay, potential for summer and holiday work

Minimum requirements.

  • Previous experience mentoring kids ages 6-14 in robotics
  • Well-versed in various robots – WeDo2.0, SpikePrime, Vex Robots, Dash/Dot/Cue, Ev3 and more.
  • Passionate about working with children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills while staying organized and committed
  • Fun, creative and energetic with strong moral values and discipline
  • A college degree in Engineering, Technology or a relevant STEM field is a plus
  • Knowledge of various Robots and coding platforms is a must
  • Willingness to learn STEM-related topics and new ways of teaching and facilitation (S2STEM will provide training and guidance for the first 3 months)
  • Experience in teaching/coaching elementary/middle school kids is a plus
