Distinctive Healthcare is currently seeking to hire full time Anestheisa Tech to work at the military hospital at Fort Sam Houston.

Responsibilities:
Task Heading. The anesthesia technician assists the nursing staff in preparing the patient and
assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures. This individual works under the
supervision of the Chief, Department of Anesthesia (DOA) of the MTF and/or his designee. 5.2. Contract anesthesia technician shall have sufficient training /experience to be able
to perform the duties of an anesthesia technician to include, but not limited to:

Anesthesia technicians shall perform essentially the same duties, as those required of
any of any Military or government civil service anesthesia technician of similar
experience and in similar duty assignments.
Assist anesthesia personnel during induction, administration of and recovery from anesthesia.
Change anesthetic gas tanks as needed.
Aid the anesthetist/anesthesiologists as needed. Obtain additional medical
supplies and equipment. Assist in suctioning patients prior to extubation. Help move
patients onto recovery room litters. Procure blood, blood products and laboratory test
results in routine and emergency situations. Perform needed blood test using modern
equipment such as the i-Stat/Bayer point of caresystems.
Maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies. Cleans and decontaminates anesthesia
gas machines and equipment. Check drug and drug supply cabinet for shortages of drugs
and request that the needed drugs are ordered. Restock anesthesia carts as needed, help
keep anesthesia workroom neat and orderly. Return all anesthesia equipment to the proper
storage place.
Assist anesthesia personnel with positioning and observing patients during the
administration of regional anesthesia.
Perform administrative duties as required to include completion of all required
reports, records and quality assurance forms.
Participates in designated anesthesia service training activities to include in- services.

Qualifications:
Have and maintain current
certification in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or basic life support (BLS). CPR,
and/or BLS certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association and/
or Red Cross approved training program.

  • Experience: The contractor shall provide qualified personnel to fill the

requirement for Anesthesia Technician services at a standard enabling the
military treatment facility to maintain a high level of quality. A minimum of 1
year of healthcare experience within a perioperative setting is required.

  • All contract HCPs shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to

effectively communicate with patients and other HCPs.

  • Possess the basic knowledge of aseptic technique and sterile fields.
