Job Summary
Position Definition
Under general supervision, identifies, locates, inspects, appraises, and documents real property to determine value for ad valorem tax purposes.

Examples Of Work Performed
Will train to:
Identify, locate, inspect, appraise, and document real property according to State law.
Maintain economic data of current conditions affecting real property value.
Operate data processing equipment and enter data.
Maintain files to defend and support rendered values.
Conduct formal and informal hearings on contested values.
Assist with cross-training and all functions of the office. Train co-workers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, accounting, finance, computer science, business administration, OR significant experience in real estate related field. Upon hire, must successfully complete all courses for the Oklahoma State Advanced Accreditation Program.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
Interact with all customers and co-workers in a supportive and professional manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and Outlook, is required.
Upon hire, achieve mastery of the three approaches to value in appraising real property (cost, sales comparison, and direct income). Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle in all conditions.
Attain knowledge of State law affecting real property appraisal, principles and practices in real property appraising, departmental policies and procedures, and of appeals process in District Court. Attain ability to defend values before Board of Equalization and in District Court.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Apply basic statistical measures (mean, median, mode, standard deviation, etc.) and draw appropriate conclusions from data sets.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business media, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write effective business correspondence and procedures with proper grammar. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, coworkers, and taxpayers with coherent descriptions of findings and results.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply critical thinking to complicated scenarios.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
Ability to apply critical thinking to complicated appraisal scenarios to produce accurate assessments.
Physical Demands
Must be able to perform physical inspections and measure properties. Employee is regularly required to use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. Required to speak and listen, stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Certificates, Licenses, Insurance, And Registrations
Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
Must provide own transportation and liability insurance, work related mileage is reimbursed.
Upon hire, attain Certificate of Advanced Accreditation as provided in Title 68 O.S. §2816
Work Environment
This position has both office and field duties. The office noise level is usually moderate. Employee is regularly exposed to the outside weather conditions. May be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noises, and the use of personal protective equipment.
