ASC Clinical Manager Job at Centers for Pain Control and Vein Care
Description
The ASC Clinical Manager plans, administers, and evaluates comprehensive surgical nursing care based upon nursing assessment of needs and physician’s orders for the care of assigned surgical patients. The ASC Clinical Manager also assists and supports the Practice Manager, Clinic Site Manager and Administration/Management with daily activities and projects to ensure smooth operations as well as to ensure the highest quality possible in all areas of Centers For Pain Control.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Responsible for the supervision of clinical/non clinical employees in site location
- Monitor new and current employee training requirements
- Communicate and coordinate staffing, scheduling and counseling needs with Clinic Site Managers and ASC Clinical Managers
- Ensure that all new Clinical training competency checklist are fully completed
- Provide input on all clinical employees reviews with Clinic Site Manager & Administration/Management
Demonstrate clinical expertise in the execution of the nursing process and structural standards of all Surgical Centers
- Perform assessments using the appropriate assessment tool within the time frame designated in the policy manual as evidenced by documentation
- Utilize all available sources of information when assessing patients (patient examination, family, medical records, other health care professionals); completely gathers and incorporates all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient as designated in the policy manual as evidenced by documentation
- Meet all ISDH, Medicare, AAAHC and all other voluntary and regulatory requirements
- Identify patient problem(s) and establish treatment priorities based on all the assessment data as evidenced by documentation
- Identify measurable patient outcomes associated with each nursing diagnosis(es) or patient problem(s) as evidenced by documentation
- Develop an effective plan of care according to company standards as evidenced by documentation
- Demonstrate knowledge of the standards of care when developing an individualized care plan as evidenced by supervisory observation and/or documentation
- Demonstrate the ability to competently perform skills necessary
- Implement the multidisciplinary plan of care per company standards as evidenced by observation
- Reflect implementation of the nursing care plan through documentation
- Implement patient/family education specific to the patient’s assessed needs, abilities, and readiness as evidenced by observation and/or documentation
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes as evidenced by documentation
- Revises the patient’s plan of care based on reassessment
Responsibilities of a ASC Clinic Manager
- Oversee day to day workflow and manage all the clinical staff
- Complete ASC Clinic Manager tasks as assigned by the management
- Coordinate workflow, tasks and patient care
- Works together with Purchasing Team Supervisor to ensure supplies, equipment, etc…are available, checked, maintenance provided all paperwork in order
- Responsible for Quality Improvement—to ensure studies are performed as needed, benchmarking as needed, drills are performed, as well as monitors staff to ensure safe practices are being used at all times
- Perform compliance and infection prevention as needed
- Report all compliance and infection prevention findings to Administration/Management
- Manage and attend daily huddle meetings with staff
- Communicate with the billing team on information request
- Demonstrate knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Conduct and participate in performance improvement studies
- Manage and monitor assigned employees timecards and request
- Maintain reports on time studies, patient satisfaction surveys, chart audits, safety & emergency drills
Customer Relations
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times as evidenced by observation
- Respect the rights, property, and privacy of all customers as evidenced by observation
- Meet customers’ needs and expectations as evidenced by the use of communication skills and actions taken on behalf of patients, families and visitors
- Foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation through communication and cooperation with all members of the health care team as evidenced by observation
- Manage conflict in a positive and constructive manner as evidenced by observation
Responsibilities & Preparation of patient procedure (as Pre-Operative Nurse)
- Assign preoperative arrival times and notify patient(s) at least 1 day in advance of the surgery as documented
- Review pre-op charts for completion
- Obtain appropriate paperwork to complete chart
- Recognize and report to attending physician any deviations from normal lab values
- Review pre-op instruction on all patients scheduled for next day surgery and obtain necessary documentation and supplies as required
- Collaborate with patient/family to identify individual needs and assess learning readiness
- Plan patient care with the members of the perioperative team
- Apply effective interviewing skills to obtain information from the patient/family as is necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing
- Apply basic verbal and nonverbal communication skills to identify and reduce anxiety in the patient/family
- Document assessment, teaching and patient’s responses as evidenced by documentation
- Set priorities and organize nursing activities accordingly
- Assure patient’s privacy and company confidentiality
- Maintain records and log books as required by company policy and regulation
Responsibilities for patient procedure (as a Circulating Nurse)
- Properly identify patients by checking the identification and comparing with the information on the chart as evidenced by observation and documentation
- Verify patient consent is signed and accurately completed
- Review medical records for appropriate information as specified in the company policies & procedures
- Prepare the Operating Room for the patient by obtaining proper equipment and supplies for intraoperative care as evidenced by documentation and observation
- Ensure a safe environment for the patient by following proper aseptic techniques, care and operation of all surgical and emergency equipment as observed
- Monitor all patients receiving conscious sedation or local anesthesia according to established policies and procedures
- Assist in properly positioning the patient on the procedure table
- Record, handle, and label specimens as documented
- Assist with dressings and prepare patient for transport to the Recovery Room
- Initiate lifesaving measures, such as CPR, in emergency situations as observed
Responsibilities During and After Patient Procedure (as a Scrub Nurse)
- Utilize aseptic techniques, set up instruments and equipment needed for procedures as observed and documented
- Perform needle, sponge, and other counts as documented
- Adhere to principles of universal precautions and ensure safe disposal of all sharps
- Control use of supplies and equipment to avoid waste as observed
- Assist with the general cleaning of the room and set up for the next procedure case
Responsibilities after Patient Procedure (as a Recovery Nurse)
- Rapidly assess patient status upon transfer to the Recovery Room (pulse oximeter, EKG, BP, dressings, drainage, etc.)
- Recognize and report to physician any deviations from normal lab values or responses
- Document on the medical record as requested or required
- Demonstrate knowledge of the location, care and operation of all Recovery Room emergency equipment
- Communicate discharge status to the attending physician as documented/observed
- Intervene in emergency situations in relation to patient safety and care
- Provide patient comfort and safety using appropriate equipment and/or medication as documented and identified through patient surveys
- Provide accurate and concise post-operative reports
- Assure patient’s privacy and company confidentiality
- Maintain records and log books as required by policy and regulation
Requirements
- Nursing Degree (BSN or MSN)
- Current RN License (active & unencumbered)
- BLS & ACLS CPR Certification
- IV Certification (completed through CPC training process)
- Minimum 2 years of Management experience required
- Fast paced work environment with established time constraints
- Must be able to work overtime when required
- Must be able to multitask while maintaining accuracy
- Must work well with others
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record
- 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a procedure/surgical setting
- Experience as a PACU RN (preferred)
- Infection Control Training Completion (preferred)
