Assembly & Inspection

General Statement of Responsibilities:

NTN-Bower Corporation is looking for Assemblers/Inspectors in Macomb, IL. In this position you will assemble metal products, such as cylindrical or tapered roller bearings, partially or completely, working on a bench or on the shop floor by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and / or assembles parts following blueprint specifications. Follow specific work instructions relating to quality standards regarding inspection and assembly. Records appropriate data for production control.
• Fastens parts together with retainers, clips, or other fasteners. Inspects parts or assemblies for visual defects.
• Operates presses, or other appropriate machines to assist in assembly operation. Operates laser to mark appropriate part number on product.
• Removes small quantities of metal with hand files, polishers, scrapers, etc. to produce close fit between parts or to remove any blemish from the finish.
• Dips parts or assemblies in cleaning or lubricating solutions to remove or to prevent rust.
• Rubs gloved hand over surfaces and visually examines workpiece. Segregates or marks defective or blemished parts for rework / scrap.
• Records and submits daily inspection / production report to department supervisor.
• Supports the Plant quality systems goals/improvements and productivity goals/improvements within the scope of the job.
• Supports the Plant safety programs/goals within the scope of the job.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Compliance with applicable Company, Corporate, State, and Federal regulations.

Education and / or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language, Math, & Reasoning requirements:

• Language - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
• Math - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Physical demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
